Ability scores

Strength and Constitution remain the main combat abilities. Wisdom can support Survival, Perception and the path's spiritual identity but is not required to power the primary Totem Spirit combat features.

Rage management

The 3rd-level Totem Spirit and 14th-level Totemic Attunement combat benefits are primarily designed around Rage. The ritual and exploration features remain useful outside Rage, giving the path more non-combat identity than many Barbarian subclasses.

Positioning and target choice

Choose totems according to the role you want at each feature level. Bear at 3rd level is exceptional for durability, Eagle favors mobility, and Wolf rewards a melee-heavy party. The path also contributes outside combat through rituals and Aspect of the Beast.

Reckless Attack and this Path

Reckless Attack interacts differently with each totem plan. Bear can often tolerate the extra incoming accuracy, Eagle may use mobility to limit retaliation, and Wolf can focus on enabling allied melee attacks. The feature remains a tactical choice rather than an automatic part of every Rage.

Common mistake

The common mistake is assuming every totem choice must use the same animal. The 2014 subclass explicitly allows the later Aspect and Attunement choices to differ, so mixing totems is part of the intended customization.
