Gunslinger FAQ
What subclasses can a Gunslinger choose?
The Mage Hand Press Gunslinger has six published subclasses: **Deadeye, High Roller, Secret Agent, Spellslinger, Trick Shot, and White Hat**. They specialise the class in precision shooting, gambling and luck, covert operations, spell-and-gun play, technical trick shots, or heroic lawkeeper-style gunplay.
The Gunslinger has six published subclass options in the D&D Beyond *Valda's Spire of Secrets* class release.
Deadeye
Deadeye is the dedicated precision shooter.
It is the natural choice for a character whose identity is accuracy, range, and deliberate marksmanship.
High Roller
High Roller leans hardest into luck, gambling, and the class's risk theme.
It suits a player who enjoys unusual probability and bluff-style mechanics.
Secret Agent
Secret Agent supports covert work, intrigue, hidden motives, and firearm expertise outside open battle.
It fits spies, infiltrators, and operatives.
Spellslinger
Spellslinger combines firearm combat with magic.
Spellslinger adds arcane spellcasting to the firearm chassis and makes Intelligence an important secondary ability, creating a substantially different build from the other Gunslinger Creeds.
Trick Shot
Trick Shot focuses on technical and unusual shots.
It is the subclass for a player who wants firearm attacks to create tactical effects beyond ordinary damage.
White Hat
White Hat supports the classic heroic gunslinger or lawkeeper identity.
It reinforces confronting dangerous opponents and helping others.
How do you choose?
A simplified comparison is:
Deadeye → precision and marksmanship High Roller → luck, gambling, risk-reward Secret Agent → covert operations and intrigue Spellslinger → firearms plus magic Trick Shot → technical and tactical shots White Hat → heroic / lawkeeper gunfighter
What every subclass retains
Every Gunslinger keeps the firearm chassis, critical-hit identity, Risk Dice system, and Extra Attack progression.
The subclass changes how those tools are specialised.
