Battle Master starts by changing the normal Fighter play pattern through Combat Superiority; Student of War, giving the subclass its first clear mechanical identity.
Later features such as Know Your Enemy, Improved Combat Superiority, Relentless expand that identity at higher levels, so the subclass has a clearer role in combat, exploration, utility, or support.
