What Rage activates

Entering Rage is when you choose Bite, Claws, or Tail, so Rage determines your weapon mode for the encounter. Infectious Fury later triggers from those natural-weapon hits while raging, and Call the Hunt is activated when the Rage begins.

What remains useful outside Rage

Bestial Soul's chosen movement adaptation is useful outside combat and does not require a current Beast transformation. The base Barbarian also retains ordinary weapons, Athletics, and exploration capabilities between Rages.

The normal Rage restrictions still matter

Form of the Beast appears when Rage begins, so the subclass strongly rewards committing to that state. The normal 2014 Rage restrictions on casting and concentration still apply; natural weapons and magical concentration are therefore competing plans rather than simultaneous defaults.

Why Rage duration matters

When Rage ends, the current Form of the Beast disappears. Any plan that depends on the Bite, Claws, or Tail should therefore account for Rage duration rather than assuming the natural weapon is permanently available.
